The annual fish boil to benefit Orphan Grain Train was held and enjoyed by all who attended on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Kramer Hall, Kramer, NE. A Free-Will Offering for Orphan Grain Train, with supplement funding by Thrivent Financial, was taken in. Also accepted at this event were gently used clothing, shoes, toys, quilts, non-breakable housewares, school supplies and health items. In total, the Wisconsin style Fish Feed collected $1,562.00 in donations. Ninety-three (93) people were served during the meal.
We know the Grain Train is held close to the heart of many in our congregation and community. We'd like to thank everyone who helped prepare food, served, planned and cleaned up afterward. It was indeed a fun time. As always, continue to keep Orphan Grain Train in your service help and prayers. We will look forward to another wonderful turnout in 2019!
Another great afternoon of good eatin', great fellowship and beneficial support was given to the work of the Orphan Grain Train and annually held again today, Sunday, July 9, 2017. The festivities began at around 11:30 a.m. and continued until about 1:00 p.m. at the Kramer Community Hall just down the road from St. John. We saw many friendly faces and hungry appetites in support of this worthy organization.
A Free will offering for the Orphan Grain Train was the only price of admission. All of the proceeds going toward the functions of the Orphan Grain Train are designated as 10% for general operating expenses & 90% toward actual goods, services and shipping.
OGT donations accepted are good clean clothing, non-breakable kitchen accessories, handicap items, bikes, quilts, school supplies, health items, diapers from T-shirts, plastic mats, pillowcase dresses, bedding and linens.
Thank you Board of Elders and the Ladies Aid group at St. John for all their hard work and dedicated service to this cause. See you next year!
This year's Fish Boil again supports the fine work of the Orphan Grain Train. A good amount of fellowship with a heaped helping of delicious food was held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 around the mid-day eating hour and concluded at roughly 1:00 p.m. The fish dinners were served in the Kramer Community Center just down the road from St. John Lutheran Church.
The continued success of this annual event sustained its momentum in 2016 by conjoining 31 Volunteers, placing 140 volunteer hours in preparation, service and cleanup time. The 1 1/2 hours in which the event took place raised $1,077 with an additional $250 from Thrivent. Used clothing was also collected during the event. In total, 76 individuals were served.
The fellowship at St. John Lutheran Church held the annual "Fish Boil" at Kramer Hall on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Serving began at 11:30 a.m. and was enjoyed until about 1:00 p.m. The event was sponsored by the St. John and spearheaded by the congregational elders.
All proceeds were collected from a free-will offering dedicated to, "Orphan Grain Train". Funds raised are used for general operations, shipping & supplies, maintenance, utilities and insurance for OGT.
